About
The All In Together project was created to highlight the beauty of a community coming together even while we are physically apart.This project will not only be a symbol of togetherness but it will mark a period in time where we had to separate for the good of the community.
All In Together will be a vehicle to aid in the healing of the community by providing an outlet to participate in a collaborative effort that provides an opportunity for people to express and/or process the challenges of everyday life. With that in mind, Hamilton Glass and Matt Lively have worked together to create imagery that expresses this concept both literally and figuratively. All In Together aims to include people who may not otherwise be able to participate in the creation of a mural or public art works: those who are too young, too sick, or too old to otherwise participate in public community engagement events. Everyone will now have the opportunity to have their voices and creative expression heard/seen in this public art project. We feel this will have a positive impact on many people in the community and leave a lasting legacy that stamps these days and times through art.

All In Together has the potential to have many of its installations sponsored in your favorite school or community center. It is our goal to be able to install these projects in different schools and public facilities all over the Greater Richmond Area. LEAD ARTIST
HAMILTON GLASS
Hamilton Glass is a painter and public artist living in Richmond, Virginia. His work focuses around using public art to build up communities, and create spaces in which the community members feel they have a stake in their surroundings. To him, it is vital that he uses his work in ways that serve the public and engage people through art. He believes in the power of art, which can hold communities together, and increase equity around access to the arts.
Hamilton started his art career as an architect, and after working in the field for 7 years discovered his true passion lied with painting. His paintings, however, are reminiscent of his past as an architect through technique and style. He often utilizes geometric shapes, line, and color to create bold, graphic murals that work with the existing architecture or landscape to create site-specific works of art. One of the most important themes Glass likes to work with in his designs is movement–his work carries energy and momentum, either within the piece itself by moving the viewers eyes through layers of color and line, or more physically, in large scale murals. He uses rhythmic lines to connect vibrant colors, often adding in imagery/objects that more directly represent the concepts in his work. Glass is honored to be a frequent collaborator with organizations who are focused on community growth and outreach. This part of his practice offers him the opportunity to give back to the community through his art and is a huge inspiration in itself.
MATT LIVELY
Matt Lively earned a BFA in Sculpture from VCU in 1993 and has exhibited nationally and internationally in numerous solo, juried and group exhibitions. He teaches at the Virginia Museum Studio School and the Virginia Commonwealth University, Lively is on the Board of 1708 Gallery, is a contributing founding member of Ink Tank Lab, and serves as Art Director of short films and Producer of the documentary “Death”. Matt Lively’s work is in collections in the U.S, Canada, Europe, Australia and China and is co-founder of the award winning collaborative environmental sculpture duo, Lively / Harper. Matt Lively was the 2012 recipient of the Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts.
